Greetings from the Chairman

At the beginning
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the understanding and support of everyone involved in the operations of our corporation.
Our corporation has been supporting the local community since the Taisho era (around 1924), and currently operates social welfare services in three areas in Kushiro City: the elderly, people with disabilities, and children.
Looking back at its history, the predecessor of the corporation, commonly known as "Nasake no Yado," began supporting the elderly, and continues to provide support for children and people with disabilities, as well as support for children and families raising children, to this day.Satoru Uchida (first chairman), who laid the foundation of the corporation, expanded the "Nasake no Yado," and founded "Kushiro Yoroen" in 1927. Later, as local needs changed, the organization was changed, and in 1952, it was approved as the Kushiro Yoroen Foundation.
Later, his sons Minoru and Mamoru inherited his passion for welfare, and in 1963 they opened Hikari Gakuen, the first facility for children with intellectual disabilities in the Kushiro area. The following year, "Yoroen" was changed to "Nursing Home Choseien," and the corporate name was changed to the current "Social Welfare Corporation Kushiro Aiiku Association."
Normalization and childcare support
Furthermore, in 1975, in order to meet the needs for building facilities for people with intellectual disabilities, the "Tsurugaoka Gakuen Support Facility for the Disabled" was opened, and in 1979, due to the growing need for childcare support, the "Kashiwa Nursery School" (Certified Kindergarten)" will be established. Later, as part of the basic structural reform of social welfare, the Social Welfare Act was revised, shifting from a measure system to a use contract system, and the transition from residential facilities to local communities began and group homes were opened. In 2008, we ended the 45-year history of ``Hikari Gakuen'' and established the "Multifunctional Hikari Independence Support Center" in order to accommodate older children.
Furthermore, in 2010, we received nursery school outsourcing (public privatization) from Kushiro City and opened Aiko Nursery School (certified nursery school).
New company building construction and future
The construction work for the "Nursing Home Choseien Old Relocation and Renovation and Special Nursing Home Musanosato New Project", which had been underway for some time, was completed on March 19, 2022, and a commemorative ceremony was held. The new school building, said to be the best in eastern Hokkaido, will begin operations on April 1st. We would like to express our deep gratitude to Hokkaido, Kushiro City, many other related organizations, and local residents for their tremendous understanding and support. In this way, the long history of the Kushiro Aiku Association is made up of the blood and sweat of many predecessors of whom we, as corporate employees, should be proud.
In order to continue to live up to the expectations of our predecessors who have supported this corporation, we, the staff, aim to reach even greater heights in the welfare we are currently implementing, and work with all our heart to work closely with each and every child and user. However, I strongly hope that I will continue to study.
We believe that putting this into practice will lead to improving the welfare of our beloved Kushiro.
Social Welfare Corporation Kushiro Aiku Association
Chairman Toshiyuki Wada
